December Stress Management

The Holiday season can be a very stressful time. Between hosting family, shopping in busy malls, and cooking holiday meals, it can be easy to get caught up in the chaos and not take time to relax. First, make sure you’re getting enough sleep. Getting a full 7-9 hours of sleep a night can help your overall health, and help reduce stress/anxiety levels. Also, in order to get more sleep, you can try reducing your caffeine intake. Caffeine is a stimulant that can also increase your anxiety. Try exercising to get rid of your nervous energy. Yoga is a great exercise method that can relieve stress.

If you’re stressed while at work, take a moment and take a few deep breaths to relax. Make an effort to take everything with a grain of salt, sometimes a situation is not worth getting upset over. You can also write down whatever is stressing you out on a piece of paper, then throw it out. Chewing gum has also been found to reduce stress levels. Try to plan out your schedule for the following day, don’t procrastinate. Leaving things until the last minute will only add to your stress levels. Don’t forget to take time and enjoy spending time with family and friends this Holiday season!
